I'm Keoni and I'm in my third year of BSc Computer Science here at Swansea University.
For my final year project, I'm looking at the programming language Scala and, amongst other things, want to see if it's better at introducing students to functional programming than Haskell.
Thus, here we are, and I'm going to deliver an introductory lecture to Scala to see if you agree with me and if there's a positive response - perhaps in future years we may see it in the second year declarative programming module, who knows...?
In an integrated lecture and lab session, we'll get you started on some of the basics of the language and see how it can work with Java. Hopefully, you'll realise that (at least at this early stage!) the readability is more welcoming than Haskell's.
Why not join me if that sounds like something that tickles your fancy...? All welcome! (There are two options to choose from - the lectures will be more or less identical.)
